Vests are hard to wear. High-waisted shorts are hard to wear. So naturally, I thought to combine the two. These menswear vests tend to be slightly shapeless and over-sized, so do expose more skin everywhere else to create balance. The shorts provide that balance, and peak through just enough so that people know you are, in fact, wearing pants. If you feel like the vest is still too shapeless, add a belt to cinch in the waist. Again, no sandals or wedges with this look, it won't tie the look together the same way. If you're not into heels try some oxfords or loafers; however, you may feel like a tap dancer (but that's not a bad thing!)
P.S. There is some pattern-mixing in here. Its not that scary. Just make sure the patterns share a common color, and the patterns relatively different in scale (one large/one small, or one muted/the other bold).
